The Robot-Check: Make Sure Your Writing Sounds Human
AI can help you write faster, but sometimes the result sounds a bit stiff — like a form letter instead of a real person talking. The fix isn't to stop using AI, it's to add one extra step: a "warmth check."
Next time you use AI to write a message, email or post, paste it back in and ask this:
"Read this like a customer would. Does it sound warm and personal, or stiff and robotic? Rewrite anything that sounds like a form letter, and keep my usual tone."
This works especially well for:
- Appointment reminders
- Thank-you messages
- Policy or pricing explanations
These are the messages most likely to come out sounding cold, because they're often templated. A quick warmth check softens the edges without losing the information.
Try it today on the last automated message you sent — a booking confirmation, a reminder, anything. You'll probably spot a line or two that reads more "system" than "small business owner," and now you know exactly what to fix.
